About us in brief
The Section for Applied Botany took off the ground in summer 2015 paralleled by the termination of the German Society of Applied Botany (Vereinigung für Angewandte Botanik, VAB). Hence, the former dogmatic dichotomy trenches between basic and applied research are vanished, which caused the separation of VAB from the German Society for Plant Sciences (DBG) about 100 years ago. The DBG board expects many fruitful impulses resulting from this "reunification". The members of the new section first meet on 31 August 2015 during the Botanikertagung in Freising near Munich. The new Section is the sixth experts' Section of the DBG. The Section edits the scientific Journal of Applied Botany and Food Quality
