Membership in umbrella organisations

The Society and its Sections are maintaining a vivid network with other scientific organisations:

The DBG is a member of the German network of biologists (Verband Biologie, Biowissenschaften und Biomedizin, VBIO) which is the largest national organisation for bio and life sciences in the country.

The Society is a member of the National Committee of Biology (DNK) which is the German member of the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS) and the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) who operate at a global level.

Since 2013 is the DBG member of the Federation of the European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB). Up to this date solely the Section of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology was its member.

The Society is an associate of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).

The Phycology Section is a founding member of the Federation of European Phycological Societies (FEPS) who speaks for scientists working with algae.

Members of our Section Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology are board members of the Gemeinsame Fachgruppe Synthetische Biologie.
