ActivitiesThe Section strives to promote all scientific disciplines around biodiversity and evolutionary biology which comprize anatomy, funtional morphologhy, phylogenetic history, plant geography, as well as modern molecular systematics and phylogeny. ConferencesThe Section organizes a workshop every other year in alternation with the conferences of the Botanikertagung of the DBG. 2012The upcoming meeting of the Section will take place in Mainz, Germany, from 16th to 19th September 2012. 2011In 2011 members of the Section met at the "BioSystematics 2011" in February in Berlin, Germany. This conference was jointly organised by the German Botanical Society (DBG: Deutsche Botanische Gesellschaft), the Gesellschaft für Biologische Systematik (GfBS) and the International Organization of Systematic and Evolutionary Biology (IOSEB) [3]. 2010 The "Systematics" took place from 16.-19. September 2010 in Vienna, Austria. Details are summarized at the University of Vienna [2]. MembershipMembers will be informed about the activities of the sections, conferences, and jobs via the email newsletter of the society. At present there is no membership fee. How to become a member?Prerequisite for a membership in the Section is a membership in the German Botanical Society (DBG). To become a member, please write an informal letter to the HistoryAt first the Section was founded nonofficially at Heidelberg, Germany, in 1971, named morphology, anatomy, and systematics. In September 1993 it got its first ststutes. Most of the members voted for the current name of "Biodiversity and Eevolutionary Biology" in 1998. The present statutes were decided at the the conference at Jena on 21st of September in 2000. StatutesThe Section set up its own statutes [4].
