Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology

Activities

The section promotes research and teaching in the fileds of physiology, biochemistry and melecular biology of plants. It therefore offers a newletter comprizing a jobmarket as well as infromations and ongoing discussions. Moreover the sections supports specialized scientific congresses.

Next Meeting

The upcoming meeting of the Section will be on September 20th, 2011 starting 5:30 p.m. at the Botanikertagung in Berlin.

Members

At present the section Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology consits of almost 250 members (status in September 2011).

Advantages of Membership

If you are working as a plant physiologist or as a molecular biologist you are invited to join the section Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology. Your advantages for the small annual membership fee of 25,00 € are:

  1. You will become a member of the FESPB (Federation of the European Societies of Plant Biology) automatically.
  2. Members pay a reduced congress fee at the FESPB-meetings.
  3. Members will obtain the electronic FESPP-alert which contains informations about new issues about plant sciences.
  4. One or two young scientists are awarded at each FESPP-meeting. They will receive a monetary award and are invited to give a talk about their scientific work (suggestions are to be send to the chairperson of the Section).
  5. The FESPP supports Europaean workshops. Instructions can be obtained. Applications are to be send to Prof. Dr. Christine Foyer (Rothamsted Research, UK)
  6. The FESPP gives monetary support for classes and to invite lecturers. Applications are to be send to the treasurer of the FESPP Prof. Karl-Josef Dietz, University of Bielefeld, Germany.
  7. Members can obtain the journals Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Physiologia Plantarum, and Journal of Experimental Botany at a reduced price.
  8. The "jobmarked" of the Section provides job opportunities for all members via e-mail (Jobs@deutsche-botanische-gesellschaft.de). The chairperson distributes the information. If you want to discuss questions or to deliver information to all members of the section, please write to the chairperson.

How to become a member

If you want to become a member of the Section Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology and you are not (yet) a member of the DBG you can test this Section for 3 years. During this 3 years you only have to pay the membership fee of the Section. After 3 years the speaker will contact you to ask for a membership in the DBG as well. Applications: [1].
